GRTgaz Deutschland GmbH – A New App for Better Customer Service

Berlin, 4 July 2014. GRTgaz Deutschland is the first German transmission system operator to offer its customers a permanent mobile access to view operative data of the MEGAL pipeline system which is operated by the company. The users of the GRTgaz Deutschland App - which was specifically developed for this purpose - will be given fast access to transmission-relevant information such as nomination and physical flow data on a day-to-day basis, among other things. The app also provides a tariff calculator for calculating current prices tailored to the user’s requirements for standardized and freely selectable periods.

“The energy market is undergoing a process of change“, says Maryline Ehlermann, Head of Key Account Management at GRTgaz Deutschland GmbH, “ a consequence of which is, for example, that transmission customers are increasingly carrying out planning on a short-term basis.“ Ehlermann explained that her company was complying with the information requirements of the market participants allowing them - for example - to retrieve the network data which are crucial for the purchase decision of interruptible capacities on their mobile end devices in real time, at any time. According to Ehlermann, providing the app is the next logical step after optimising the company website for smartphone and tablet use in 2013, as the company gives a high priority to ensuring a smooth communication flow with its customers. The app will allow an even more efficient exchange with customers in future, as the available functionalities in fact yield an added value such as an overview of due maintenance dates which may each be included in a user’s individual calendar.

During the development of the GRTgaz Deutschland App, much importance was given to intuitive use in order to create a user-friendly design: the clearly structured menu allows immediate use. Subsequently, the first customer feedback was positive, emphasising a much more efficient display of physical flows. The regular updates will continuously add further functionalities to the current version.

The app is available now in the AppStore and as an Android version in the PlayStore. Both versions are available in German and English
